Today it is once again The Legendary Date of Rebirth & The New Beginning & Worshipping The Midsummer Sun, and somewhat risky to wander around. Yet I was there again on an expedition (yes I went outside again, but not over 30 minutes ! ). You might remember that during the past few years on this date I have been extremely boldly and completely without saving my efforts participating in a racy expedition through the wilderness. Amongst many other things, also these sacred worshipping rituals annually on the 14th of each December are somehow related with a mysterious ancient Nychthemeron Clan of Worshippers. Several ritualistic high ceremonial platforms of this legendary worshipping can still be found in Finnish highland woods. By a huge coincidence, I happen to spend a lot of my time in the immediate closeness of one of these platforms, so it is more accessible to me than to most common laypersons. Still, it is best to be careful around these sites. During my previous expeditions I had not approached this platform yet, but kept a respectful distance, and I had decided to continue on this line this year too. Which I also successfully did. I went a little closer, though. On my last journey in 2016, I had been able to witness an extraordinary encounter, which was still bouncing back and forth in my brain, also in general the outcome of my ventures had been so good so far, so I was not at all expecting any sudden collapse when I started my rough journey towards the harsh desert this year. Unexpectedly this time there were several issues that completely came from behind the bushes. Yes I must confess that I was a bit taken by a surprise when I finally decided to go outside - ( Note ! Remember always to take precautions, and while outside all the time keep in mind that the general recommendation is only for max. 30 minutes ! Do not take unnecessary risks by exceeding this limit in any conditions ! ) - because it turned out that on the exact date 14th of December this year the overall appearance of the terrains amazingly looked like this : Image : The overall appearance of the terrains amazingly looked like this. The image above of the overall appearance of the terrains amazingly looking like that was photographed in ancient Raasepori, in southwestern Finland today, on Thursday December 14th, 2017 at about 14:00. Image : The overall appearance of the terrains amazingly looked like this 2 days later. This proves how quick and smart a person has to be to approach The Clan. The image above of the overall appearance of the terrains amazingly looking like that 2 days later was photographed in ancient Raasepori, in southwestern Finland 2 days later, on Saturday December 16th, 2017 at about 14:00. Notice how close I already got without saving my efforts. I hope you do understand how much trouble I did have to go through to get the second image to show you one of those ever so brief glimpses that only the most highly observant monitoring photographer may sometimes catch (if lucky). This year I approached the whole situation on the exact date in ... hmmm. Let's say that my body language was far from acting in an elegant and site sensitive manner, so I blame totally myself for this year's failure. I must have alarmed the worshippers from far, so I did not catch anything highly special on camera either. The freezing arctic wind was blowing, so I wore my warm gloves and a proper headgear, both especially put aside a few days earlier for this dangerous journey, but I did not take in concideration one essential aspect of this daring endeavour. The road conditions. It had been snowing a few days earlier, and then came the rains. In other words, water. Following with a temperatures below the freezing point, this means ice. The Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle's Yle News had alarmed us about the extremely bad weather conditions for pedestrians as the sidewalks will be covered with ice, which in turn will be covered with water, in this order, but I was thinking that surely I could manage and possibly the ice would even melt before I begin my journey, as I had been so successful on the previous years' occasions. I was mistaken. The experience was far from pleasant as i was a liiiitle bit too careless and did not wear my ice pikes on my boot soles, and for a while there i was momentarily even brainstorming that if this climate change still goes on at this same day next year i am probably to prepare a bit and buy skates ? Even in this extreme position in the rough wilderness I had managed to shoot eight (8) photographs. When I got safely back in my quarters, I studied closely all of the photographs, but no. Nothing. I was just about to give up, when I suddenly saw them. Image : I was just about to give up, when I suddenly saw them. I was just about to give up, when I suddenly saw them, so this last minute conquer is due only to my persistence, as it is obvious that they must have put up this for me as The Great Gate of Entering or Not, do you dare join us or not ? As you can see, they are there again by the lake still worshipping Midsummer Sun, but they put the lights down and two of them ascended, while I am standing in snow up to my knees secretly watching their ceremonies ( well, no not really, let's say up to my ankles ) ( okay, it was only 5 cm ). Now, afterwards by myself again and safely in my quarters I am speculating about The Wind. And The Sun. Was it really any "coincidence" that today of all days when I am going in there, The Sun did not shine, but The Wind was blowing so harshly making my photographs blurry ? Some Thing is ( obviously ) trying to guard The Ancient Secrets of The Finnish Midsummer Clan Rituals. Of course I knew this, and I had been prepared to face some new obstacles also. The expenditure of my mental capital on this exertion had been excessive. For example I remembered to include the headwear in my equipment. To make sure, I went on another highly risky expedition a few days later, on the 16th of December, because the road conditions had changed a little bit, and I felt I just had to go. The Clan did not expect me now at all, and this time I managed to take them as a surprise. I am guessing they had no idea I was present. But the date was already gone, so they were there just chilling out. As usual, I am again monitoring the situation from my quarters for the next week from now on before The Secsacsol 2017 on 21st of December. I will report if anything occurs but I guess we will have to wait again for a whole year.
